Ontario Environmental Road Traffic Noise Assessment Sound level Limits

Location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada
Owner/Operator: Xerox Canada

The Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) is Xerox’s imaging and consumable materials research centre. This world-class 120,000-square-foot complex includes state-of-the art chemistry, chemical engineering, and physics laboratories and a 27,000-square-foot pilot plant. It is also home to a team of over 100 talented scientists and engineers from all over the world.

Compliance with the environmental noise emission limits was verified for this large scale and complex research and production facility, using sound intensity analysis. Despite significant interference from the traffic noise produced by the nearby expressway, HGC Engineering was able to demonstrate acceptable sound emission levels toward obtaining environmental approvals.

Acoustical Engineering Services Included:

  • Conducted a detailed acoustical assessment in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment procedures
  • Specified noise controls for new dust collection systems
  • Assessed interior sound levels with respect to workplace hearing conservation
